In the summer of 2014 my partner and I travelled from Amsterdam to Almaty, passing through Iran. In one of the hottest cities of Iran, we met the most wonderful and inspiring fellow; a young father and architect, determined to restore a 300-year old mansion to its original glory. His determination, passion and drive was contagious. Hadi is driven to show modern-day architects and inspire them to go forward by going back: ancient building techniques often make so much sense for people and the environment, that modern day buildings could benefit a lot if these techniques would be used more often.
The following blogpost tells Hadi’s story in brief.
